The Scariest Denzel Washington Thriller Ever Made is Finally Free-To-Stream
I love Denzel Washington. The Oscar-winning actor is one of the most versatile thespians of our time. Washington can play the Everyman. He can play the law enforcement type. And when given the chance, he even makes a great villain. Sadly, he hasn’t done a lot of genre work. But Washington does star in a proper horror thriller that gives me the creeps every time I pay it a repeat visit. I’m talking about the supernatural scare-fest Fallen.
Denzel Washington shines in an unusually dark role.
Denzel Washington brings an inner darkness to his character (Detective John Hobbes) that fits brilliantly with the picture’s decidedly macabre themes. Not to mention, the body-swapping killer Hobbes is chasing brings an unpredictable and merciless angle to the proceedings that left me breathless after my first viewing. Oh, and the ending really did a number on me. But I won’t say any more than that.
If you’ve passed on checking this flick out because of its less-than-savory reputation and disappointing box office performance, please hear me when I say that the picture is well worth seeking out. Fallen is a fine example of chilling supernatural horror. Not to mention, it features a terrific cast. Aside from Washington in the lead role, the picture stars John Goodman, Donald Sutherland, and James Gandolfini.
Gregory Hoblit directs this eerie offering from a script penned by Nicholas Kazan. If Fallen sounds like it might be up your alley, fear not, dear reader. You can now stream the picture for free (with ads) on Tubi.
The setup for this chilling horror picture goes as follows:
After witnessing the execution of serial killer Edgar Reese (Elias Koteas), whom he arrested, police detective John Hobbes (Washington), and his partner, Jonesy (Goodman), are soon investigating another murderer whose mode of operation is eerily similar to Reese’s. In the course of the investigation, Hobbes meets theology professor Gretta Milano (Embeth Davidtz), who introduces him to the world of the occult and the possibility that an evil spirit is behind the killings.
