There are a few creators that our base gets especially jazzed about. And Quentin Tarantino is surely one of them. So when the Oscar-winning filmmaker winds up in hot water after an ill-advised hot take or has a film drop on a new streaming platform, we are quick to let you know all the particulars.

While I’m fresh outta hot takes today, I do have news regarding a ‘certified fresh’ Tarantino picture that recently dropped on Paramount+. Drum roll … I’m talking about the revenge-tinged war picture Inglourious Basterds. That’s right, Inglourious Basterds is now available on Paramount+.

The flick stands as one of the few 2.5-hour-long features I will voluntarily sit through. The finale is so satisfying and makes the lengthy buildup well worth it. Not to mention, the title has an absolutely dynamite cast of characters. Oh, and Christoph Waltz took home a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his impressive turn in the film.

This feature holds a special place in the director’s heart.

While Tarantino was promoting The Hateful Eight at Comic-Con, the director revealed that the opening to Inglourious Basterds is his favorite scene he’s ever scripted.

Despite his fondness for the film, Tarantino really struggled to write it. He worked on the script for Inglourious Basterds for 10 years. His original draft was so lengthy that he contemplated releasing the project as a miniseries. But the Pulp Fiction director ultimately decided against going the television route and realized a stripped-down version of the script as a feature film. The rest, as they say, is history.

The setup for this Tarantino picture is this:

It is the first year of Germany’s occupation of France. Allied officer Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) assembles a team of Jewish soldiers to commit violent acts of retribution against the Nazis, including the taking of their scalps. He and his men join forces with Bridget von Hammersmark, a German actress and undercover agent, to bring down the leaders of the Third Reich. Their fates converge with theater owner Shosanna Dreyfus, who seeks to avenge the Nazis’ execution of her family.

That’s all we’ve got for you at present, dear reader. Keep an eye out for future updates on which films within your interest set are available to stream and where you can find them.
