‘Scream 7’: Isabel May Set To Play Sidney Prescott’s Daughter
We have more casting news for the upcoming seventh entry in the Scream franchise, so far simply titled Scream 7. It’s been confirmed via Deadline that Yellowstone star Isabel May is set to play Sidney Prescott’s daughter. While Sidney’s children didn’t appear in Scream (2022) and Scream VI, with franchise star Neve Campbell returning to this entry after Melissa Barrera was fired for speaking about the ongoing genocide in Gaza, it seems Sidney’s offspring are going to take part of the spotlight in the film.
May made a name for herself playing Elsa Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel series, 1883 and the continuation series, 1923. But she did get her start in horror, with her second-ever acting role being in the 2019 film Let’s Scare Julie. It seems she’s returning to her roots with this recent announcement.
Campbell will return for Scream 7 alongside original cast member Courteney Cox who plays the iconic Gale Weathers. Cox has appeared in every franchise entry, with her character almost meeting a grisly end in Scream VI. Time will tell what bloody horrors await the pair.
Taking up the director’s chair for Scream 7 is Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original four entries in the franchise for director Wes Craven. Now, he’s stepping up to direct with a script written by Guy Busick, who previously wrote Scream (2022) and Scream VI.
Previously Williamson has only directed one other film: Teaching Mrs. Tingle. Released in 1999, Williamson also wrote the film which starred Helen Mirren, Katie Holmes, Molly Ringwald, and Marisa Coughlan. It follows a girl who’s willing to do anything to become Valedictorian, including murdering the teacher who could keep her from achieving her dreams.
Jenna Ortega, who played Tara Carpenter in the two most recent films, isn’t returning due to cited scheduling conflicts. No word yet if any cast members from the recent sequels will appear in the new film.
Scream 7 is set to hit theaters on February 27, 2024 from Paramount.
