‘Death Becomes Her’ Turns Heads on Broadway

Broadway just got a little darker, funnier, and a whole lot more glamorous. Death Becomes Her takes the cult-classic 1992 film and cranks it up to eleven—delivering a twisted, hilarious, and over-the-top theater experience that left me laughing long after the curtain fell.

The show is not just campy (though it absolutely is); it’s also sharp, morbid, and unabashedly committed to the body horror that made the film so iconic. And yet, it somehow feels fresh. The modernized themes land perfectly, and the laughs come fast and constant. It’s been ages since I’ve had this much fun at the theater—probably not since Beetlejuice the Musical.

The cast absolutely owns this. Megan Hilty is a force as Madeline Ashton, oozing charisma with every exaggerated gesture and biting one-liner. Jennifer Simard’s Helen Sharp is hysterical, finding that perfect balance between ridiculous and heart-wrenching. And Michelle Williams—yes, from Destiny’s Child—brings down the house with some jaw-dropping vocals.

The sets are enormous and immersively detailed, perfectly matching the show’s unhinged, over-the-top energy. You can tell this was a big-budget production, and they spent every penny in all the right places.

What makes Death Becomes Her so exciting is its willingness to take risks. It’s edgy, it’s weird AF, and it’s confident in what it wants to be. Frankly Broadway needs more shows like this—shows that push boundaries and embrace the strange, the dark, and the hilarious.

If you’re looking for a glamorous, campy, and wildly entertaining night out in NYC, Death Becomes Her doesn’t just deliver; it raises the bar.
