This Prime Video Chart-Topper Might be “Utter Garbage” But Audiences Can’t Get Enough
Months ago, I got an email about Ali Zamani’s Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace. Full transparency, I wasn’t convinced it was a real movie. The cast list, including Denise Richards and Cuba Gooding Jr., was incredulous, and the plot about an Iraq War vet defeating an army of the dead read to me as ad-libbed, bargain bin stuff. Well, color me surprised then to hear the movie has resonated profoundly with audiences online. Against all odds, the low-budget, direct-to-video sleeper hit has topped the Prime Video charts, where it currently sits as the most-viewed genre movie of the week. Learn more below:
Per Prime Video: Haunted by the war in Iraq, a depressed and faithless Gabriel is approached by the mysterious Balthazar, who recruits Gabriel to stop the evil Archangel Michael from raising an army of the dead to take over the world. With the help of his old platoon, Gabriel sets off to find the Warriors of Peace, their only hope in defeating Michael and his army.
Now, streaming success doesn’t necessarily mean a movie is good (remember when The Snowman was number one on Netflix), though it clearly points toward something worth exploring. I tried, and I couldn’t tell you why Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace has emerged so popular. That’s not a knock against the movie, either, just a sign that audiences are becoming harder and harder to read when it comes to taste and inclination.
It’s pretty cool to see Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Denise Richard in the lead role, especially since her genre chops have been underutilized since Valentine more than 20 years ago. And while we all collectively wait for Constantine 2, Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace isn’t a bad way to pass the time. It feels its direct-to-video origins, but as a fun Friday night diversion, you could do a lot worse. It feels like faint praise, but in today’s crowded streaming ecosystem, I mean it more positively than I used to.
Online audiences are having a less than stellar time with Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, however, and several viewers have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the streaming hit. Check out some choice reactions below:
Do not watch Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace on Amazon. It's horrible.

Nollywood makes alot of bad movies especially in terms of production quality, script and directing. But OMG, when Hollywood messes up, they mess up bad e.g Angels:Fallen Warriors Of Peace, a very terribly produced movie. Gunner too is like a 4/10 movie. As low budget as it can be

So… not great. Sorry, Denise Richards. No matter where you land on the film—is it decent or “garbage”—I want to hear your thoughts. Someone out there—really, a lot of people—is watching the film. Let me know what you think over on Twitter @Chadiscollins. Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace is currently streaming free on Prime Video, though if you’d rather watch Valentine again, check out the Scream Factory release from a few years ago. Physical media forever, baby.
