Tornados Destroy Christmas in this Free to Watch Cinematic Masterpiece
Every year, you might have the same few Christmas horror movies on rotation. Black Christmas (all three versions if you’re a real one like me), Krampus, Silent Night, Deadly Night, and now Terrifier 3 are bonafide Christmas perennials. They’re as much a part of the celebration as the trees and lights. Seasonal horror is my favorite kind of horror, so I’m always seeking out new gems and deep cuts to really transform the season into something special.
It’s an expectation at this point, but every holiday season, friends and family want to know about the latest Christmas genre movie I’ve managed to track down. Last year was Home for the Holidays, a fantastic made-for-television slasher, and this year, I think it’s going to be Christmas Twister, now streaming free on Tubi.
Per Tubi: On Christmas Day, a city is struck by a massive storm, sprouting several deadly tornadoes, and leaving a meteorologist to try and save his family.
The early 2010s were all about twisters, for some reason. I’m not complaining, but whether it was sharks (Sharknado) or small Texas towns (Texas Twister), low-budget disaster flicks were all about unleashing tornadoes in the most incredulous of places in the most incredulous of ways. It was a simpler time, really, an era defined by must-watch Syfy channel schlock, and I kind of miss it. Luckily, Tubi, Freevee, and other parallel streaming services are there to fill the gap with titles like Christmas Twister.
The familiar faces are all there. Casper Van Dien? Of course. How could he not be there? And Christmas Twister, despite the limitations of its budget, still manages the iconography its title suggests. Malls are torn through, and a Santa’s Workshop is sucked straight into the air. Sure, it’s framed by some dodgy CG establishing shots and unconvincing cyclone effects, but that’s a small price to pay. Plus, the film co-stars an early Haley Lu Richardson, and those kind of aha moments are always exciting to see.
Christmas Twister, if there’s any seasonal spirit left, will take off this holiday season. Check out some previous online reactions below:

Christmas Twister (2012) is a movie where a F6 (???) tornado destroys Fort Worth before Christmas and I think it’s the best holiday movie for that alone pic.twitter.com/TsDp3knoia

Decided it's time to watch non-commentary Christmas Twister.

I said a bit ago I would have to explain this. Every Christmas we watch the movie F6: Twister (or Christmas Twister, it has 2 names). It’s really bad, but there’s one scene in particular that’s extra stupid. And that scene is where today’s name is from. https://t.co/B7FpNwLTVg

What do you think? Any plans to stream Christmas Twister? If you’re looking for more holiday disaster thrills, allow me to recommend The Tower. Let me know what you think over on Twitter @Chadiscollins, and stay safe out there.
