‘Sleep’ Exclusive Clip: A Gruesome Discovery
After a successful festival run, director Jason Yu‘s feature film debut Sleep is coming to Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD. This horrific slow-burn from the promising new director delves into the unraveling relationship between a young couple who face the horrors that emerge from within their own home as they sleep at night.
Read the full synopsis below:
Sleep follows newlyweds Hyun-su (Lee Sun-kyun, Parasite) and Soo-jin (Jung Yu-mi, Train To Busan), whose domestic bliss is disrupted when Hyun-su begins speaking in his sleep, ominously stating, “Someone’s inside.” From that night on, whenever he falls asleep, Hyun-su transforms into someone else, with no recollection of what happened the night before. Overwhelmed with anxiety that he may hurt himself or their young family, Soo-jin can barely sleep because of this irrational fear. Despite treatment, Hyun-su’s sleepwalking only intensifies, and Soo-jin begins to feel that her unborn child may be in danger.
In our exclusive clip, Soo-jin makes a rather bloody discovery after Hyun-su rushes off the work after another strange night.
Watch now:
Yu gained recognition as an assistant director on the Academy Award juggernaut Parasite and has now captured the attention of genre fans all over the world with Sleep. Most notably, the film features two incredible performances by Jung Yu-mi and Lee Sun-kyun. Their chemistry makes this film feel even more real and as if an actual couple was going through this nightmarish scenario.
In his review of the film, Dread Central’s managing editor Josh Korngut wrote,
“Sleep is a confident, contained, and character-driven debut from a filmmaker who shows a ton of promise. This is a quiet film that might end up flying beneath the radar, but on close inspection, it’s fun, frightening, and downright bizarre.”
Sleep will be available on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD on December 17, 2024, from Magnolia Home Entertainment under the Magnet Label.
