Dread Central Is Now Accepting Black History Month Pitches!

Queen Of The Damned Aaliyah as Akasha

Dread Central is seeking pitches from Black genre fans as part of our annual Black History Month programming! We’re accepting pitches now through Friday, January 24, 2025. If your idea specifically references Black History Month, please include that in the initial pitch so we know it has to run in February and not later in the year. Please note that your article does not need to mention Black History Month to be considered for publication.

We’re specifically looking for Black writers at any experience level to share their perspectives on the genre. If you have an idea about a specific movie, subgenre, filmmakers, books, graphic novels, an issue with a trend, or even about your experience as a horror fan in a genre that doesn’t always treat us with respect then we want to hear from you. The possibilities are endless, and we want them all.

We strongly encourage you to write about any horror film/TV series you are passionate about. Do you love an underseen international film that you want to recommend to readers? Did you connect with a character in a horror comedy? Do you have thoughts about a recent release? Or maybe you want to make a case that a “horror adjacent” movie is actually a horror movie. Or do you want to rip apart this “elevated horror” business for good? Then it is all fair game! If you enjoy (or hate) a piece of horror media or have an opinion as a horror fan, this is your time to tell us about it.

Submit your pitch via the form below by January 24:

If your pitch is accepted, we pay $100 an article.

Please only include one pitch per submission (you may submit multiple pitches). We will do our best to respond to all submissions in a timely manner. If you have more questions, contact us at info@dreadcentral.com.
