After over a decade of will they/won’t they, New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have finally unleashed the first look at Final Destination: Bloodlines, the sixth chapter in the gruesome horror franchise.

Judging by the upcoming sequel’s tagline, “Death runs in the family“, its Bloodlines subtitle might hold more water than the average legacy sequel subheading.

The newest chapter in New Line Cinema’s bloody successful franchise takes audiences back to the beginning of Death’s twisted sense of justice. Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.”

Final Destination: Bloodlines stars a cornucopia of hot TV talent, including Kaitlyn Santa Juana (The Flash), Teo Briones (Chucky), Richard Harmon (The 100), Owen Patrick Joyner (Julie and the Phantoms), Rya Kihlstedt (Dexter), Anna Lore (Doom Patrol), and Brec Bassinger (Stargirl).

On a bittersweet note, this title will also be one of the last on-screen appearances made by the late genre icon Tony Todd.

Some major genre talent appears behind the scenes on the hotly anticipated release, including co-writing by Scream 5/6/7 scribe Guy Busick, directors Zach Lipovsky & Adam Stein (Freaks), and producer Jon Watts (Clown), who contributed to the story.

Final Destination: Bloodlines opens in theaters and IMAX on May 16
