Death Has Arrived: Every ‘Final Destination’ Movie Is Now Streaming on the Same Platform!

Final Destination streaming

Let’s start with a brief readership poll, okay? How many of you are comfortable driving behind a logging truck on the freeway? How about getting Lasik eye surgery? Feel safe crossing Canadian suspension bridges? Does a tanning bed sound cool and fun? Probably not, largely because the Final Destination franchise, created by Jeffrey Reddick, has imbued even the most innocuous of daily activities with the potential for death. I’ll never look at gymnastics the same way again.

Final Destination 5 wisely went full circle, masquerading as a sequel that was really a prequel, concluding the franchise right back where it started on the infamous Flight 180. While news of a subsequent entry has floated around since that film’s release, it’s been 14 years (right?) since Death last targeted some poor saps with clairvoyant tendencies. Now, at least, we’re finally getting more Rube Goldberg carnage, and if the recent trailer for the upcoming Bloodlines is any indication, those deaths are going to be more brutal than ever. But, you can’t very well watch Bloodlines without catching up on the franchise, can you? Luckily, Max has you covered since the streamer recently added all five films to their platform.

Per Warner Bros. Pictures: Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.

You didn’t ask for it, but I’m going to give you my franchise ranking anyway: FD 2, FD3, Final Destination, FD5, and the accursed The Final Destination. Other than those raceway shenanigans, I think they’re all great movies. Final Destination 2 is the most cohesive and more deftly balances the horror and humor than any other entry. Final Destination 3 is firmly teen scream territory, and I love that. Plus, you get two major accidents for the price of one.

Final Destination is the classic that started it all, and it’s fantastic—seriously—but it’s also considerably more restrained than where the franchise would eventually head. And Final Destination 5, yeah, it’s got a great twist. But otherwise? It’s kind of just… there? It’s still fun, and before my vision gave out, I saw it twice in 3D. But it’s oddly stilted, and CG blood is no fun. Oh, and The Final Destination is technically a movie, I guess.

No matter where you land, all five films now stream on Max. Watch them in order of release. Watch them chronologically. It doesn’t matter much since Death comes for us all in the end. Be sure to catch Final Destination Bloodlines when it releases (in IMAX) on May 14. In the meantime, let me know which movie (or death) is your favorite on Twitter @Chadiscollins.
