Louis Gossett Jr. Joins Extant Cast as Halle Berry’s Father

Just when we thought the cast of CBS’s upcoming new series “Extant” couldn’t get any more impressive, along comes the news that Oscar, Golden Globe, and Emmy winner Louis Gossett, Jr., has joined the project.
Per TV Guide, Gossett will play Quinn, the father of Halle Berry’s female astronaut character, Molly. Affable but undependable, Quinn, a retired doctor living out his days in an isolated island community, is out of touch with the world and estranged from his daughter.
Best known for An Officer and a Gentleman and “Roots,” Gossett is slated to appear in at least two episodes beginning with Episode 1.04.
“Extant” premieres on Wednesday, July 9th, at 9/8c on CBS.
Synopsis:
“EXTANT” is a mystery thriller about a female astronaut, Molly (Halle Berry), who is trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.
Goran Visnjic portrays John, Molly’s husband; Pierce Gagnon plays their son, Ethan; and Camryn Manheim plays Sam Barton, Molly’s best friend. Michael O’Neill and Grace Gummer also co-star. “Extant” is a co-production of CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Greg Walker, Mickey Fisher, who wrote the script, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey, and Darryl Frank serve as executive producers. Halle Berry serves as co-executive producer.
