NBC’s small screen adaptation of the comic series based on the Alan Moore-created character John Constantine finds its way in front of cameras next week, with the pilot episode being filmed. Perfect time to catch up with writer/producer David S. Goyer and talk about the show? You bet!
In an interview with I Am Rogue, which you can watch below, Goyer confirmed that the character of Constantine, played by Matt Ryan, will rock his trademark trench coat and skinny tie and that the show will remain very faithful to the source material.
Though he calls the 2005 film “interesting,” he says that the television adaptation will be much truer to the comic books it’s based on.
Goyer went on to say that if the show gets the chance to move forward past the pilot, other characters from the Constantine universe will pop up. “I think we would try to bring in some of the other occult figures,” he teases.

Constantine is described as a working-class Londoner with rakish good looks, scruffy blond hair, deadpan humor, and signature trench coat, who has been studying the dark arts since he was a teenager. When the daughter of a late friend is targeted by demons, Constantine steps in to save her.
The pilot was written by “The Mentalist” executive producer Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Man of Steel, “Da Vinci’s Demons”). Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent, “Game of Thrones”) will direct.
