I don’t scare easily when watching movies and TV. In fact, I scare pretty rarely. So, when a trusted source like Stephen King throws around words like ‘creepy’ to describe a TV show, I stand up and take note. King previously tweeted about a critically acclaimed television series and used that very word to describe it. The author applied the terminology to the Apple TV+ series, Servant.
The setup for this Stephen King-approved streaming series goes as follows:
A Philadelphia couple is in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.
The prolific writer’s tweet reads as follows: “Servant (Apple+): If there’s anything creepier or more bingeworthy than this, I don’t know what it is. Tight focus, great acting and atmosphere. Two seasons available. No, that’s wrong. 1 episode still outstanding.”

King tweeted about the program when it was still rolling out new episodes. All seasons of the show are available to stream now on AppleTV+. The series’ fourth and final season landed on the platform in 2023.
M Night Shyamalan serves as the showrunner on the program. The show was created by screenwriter Tony Basgallop.
The project’s impressive cast of characters includes the likes of Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free, and Rupert Grint.

The show developed a loyal fanbase and won over critics during its tenure. The first season boats an approval rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Season two sits at 88%. The third season jumps to 92%. Lastly, the final season holds a perfect score of 100%.
Interesting aside: Filmmaker Francesca Gregorini filed suit against Shyamalan and the production for copyright infringement. Her suit alleges the production aped elements of her film The Truth About Emanuel, which sees a young woman using a doll as a surrogate for the baby she lost and hiring a nanny to care for the ‘child.’ The suit was ultimately dismissed.
