Ahead of Valentine’s Day, Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, has debuted the trailer and poster for Borderline, a twisted new thriller that marks the directorial debut of Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden, starring Samara Weaving (Ready Or Not) and Ray Nicholson (Smile 2)!
Read the full synopsis below:
A violent sociopath Paul (Ray Nicholson), escapes from a mental hospital and embarks on a dangerous rampage. His target: Sofia (Samara Weaving), a world-famous pop star. An obsessive fan, he takes Sofia hostage in her own home, delusionally believing they’re getting married. Paul is desperate to prove his dedication but Sofia’s just trying to survive the night. As Paul grows more unhinged, his fantasy becomes more dangerous. With help from her loyal bodyguard (Eric Dane), Sofia must fight not only her life, but for her sanity, and escape the sinister grip of her stalker and his growing group of accomplices.
Now watch the official trailer:
Weaving as a pop star and Nicholson as a humorous yet utterly unhinged stalker? Sign us up. I’m especially stoked to see the pop star horror subgenre continuing to flourish. Fingers crossed we get at least one musical number from Weaving in Borderline.
Weaving and Nicholson star in the film with Eric Dane (Euphoria), Alba Batista (Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris), and Jimmie Fails (The Last Black Man In San Francisco).
“It was an absolute pleasure to make this movie with such an extraordinary team of actors, crew, and producers,” said director Jimmy Warden. “Across the board—from the executives at Magnet, PMI, and Radiant to the background actors who agreed to stay late as we doused an 11-year-old in fake blood—I’m indebted to them all. The film is wild and I can’t wait for the world to see it.”
Warden wrote and directed Borderline, which was produced by Tom Ackerley p.g.a., Josey McNamara p.g.a., Hadeel Reda p.g.a., and Brian Duffield. Executive Producers include Colleen Camp, Productivity Media’s William G. Santor, Andrew Chang-Sang, John Hills, Radiant’s Mimi Steinbauer, and Brightlight Pictures’ Shawn Williamson, and Jameson Parker.
Borderline comes to theaters and digital on March 14, 2025, from Magnet.
