Rob Zombie’s Favorite Haunted House Film is Now Free-To-Stream; Here’s How

Former White Zombie frontman Rob Zombie cut his teeth on horror films. He grew up watching the classics from years past, developing a taste for the macabre that eventually saw the musician trying his hand at directing.
When Zombie sat for an interview with Shudder a few years back, the streamer asked the rocker to name his favorite haunted house film. Seeing as Zombie grew up on black-and-white horror movies, it’s no great surprise that his pick is a beloved classic from the ‘50s. More specifically, the Halloween (2007) director named William Castle’s House on Haunted Hill as his top pick from the haunted house subgenre.
After naming his selection, Zombie followed up by saying, “I like anything with Vincent Price.”
I have to concur with Zombie on that one. Price was (and still is) an icon. He had a knack for the macabre and made a great addition to the numerous genre pictures in which he appeared over his storied career.

Iconic director William Castle helmed House on Haunted Hill from a screenplay written by Robb White. White also wrote the script for the William Castle horror classics 13 Ghosts and The Tingler.
When House on Haunted Hill was first released, many cinemas where the film played featured a stunt where a skeleton rigged to a pulley flew into the audience at a pivotal moment in the film. That’s a clever gimmick that I imagine startled many an unsuspecting viewer during the movie’s heyday.
Where is House on Haunted Hill available to stream?
If Zombie’s lasting appreciation for the film has you itching to experience it for yourself, you are in luck. The picture is currently streaming at more than half a dozen ad-supported VOD platforms, including Tubi.
The setup for this classic horror film Rob Zombie considers a favorite goes like this:
Rich oddball Frederick Loren has a proposal for five guests at a possibly haunted mansion: show up, survive a night filled with scares, and receive $10,000 each. The guest of honor is Loren’s estranged wife, Annabelle, who, with her secret lover, Dr. Trent, has concocted her own scheme to scare Loren’s associate, Nora Manning, into shooting the potentially crazy millionaire. However, more spooks and shocks throw a wrench into the plan.
