‘Bloat’ Exclusive Clip Reveals There’s Something In The Water…

Screen life horror is one of my favorite subgenres within the found footage subgenre. These films, like Unfriended and The Den, are told entirely through screens, utilizing our own technological obsessions as the site of horror. Writer/director Pablo Absento is using those very techniques to craft his new screen life creature feature, Bloat!
Read the full synopsis below:
After a near-death drowning accident, a young boy’s family is horrified to discover he has become possessed by a legendary demon from the depths of the lake. As the family races against time to save the boy’s soul, the evil monster inside the child tears the family apart as it seeks to destroy everyone in its path.
In our exclusive clip from the film, the young boys play in the rain while talking to their father, only to find something lurking under the water…
Watch now:
Creature feature found footage is hard to come by, so we can’t wait to see the Kappa madness unleashed in Bloat! Absento wrote and directed the film, which was produced by the legendary Timur Bekmambetov (Unfriended, Searching).
Ben McKenzie (Gotham), Bojana Novakovic (Drag Me to Hell), Malcolm Fuller (City on a Hill), Sawyer Jones (Antlers), and Kane Kosugi (Tekken: Kazuya’s Revenge) star in the film.
Bloat comes to theaters, VOD, and digital on March 7, 2025, from Lionsgate.
