The Number 1 Most Watched Movie on HBO’s Max is a Star-studded Sci-Fi Thriller: “I hope there’s a sequel”
With the release of the new Captain America film, Anthony Mackie is back in the spotlight! But that’s not the only movie of his having a moment. His 2024 sci-fi thriller Elevation is currently trending on HBO’s Max as one of the most-watched films on the streamer! If you love aliens, unique concepts, and a small cast kicking ass, you won’t want to miss this one.
The synopsis simply reads, “A single father and two women venture from the safety of their homes to face monstrous creatures to save the life of a young boy.“
To be more specific, the creatures in this film can’t go anywhere that’s 8,000 feet above sea level. So the safest places to be are the mountains. But once anyone goes below 8,000 feet, anything can happen. It’s an oddly specific concept, yes, but you can’t deny it’s fascinating.
Mackie stars in the post-apocalyptic thriller with Morena Baccarin, and Maddie Hasson. George Nolfi directed the film from a script by John Glenn, Jacob Roman, and Kenny Ryan. Elevation was initially released in November 2024 to middling reviews from critics who, even if they didn’t love the film, still acknowledged its entertainment factor.
