Stephen King Calls This Streaming Max Thriller Series “Realistic and heart-wrenching”

If you have fond memories of the hit television series ER, I have good news for you. A new medical drama debuted on Max last month and it has already been hailed by some as a “spiritual sequel” to ER. Not to mention, Stephen King has blessed the show with his seal of approval.
The author recently took to Threads to share his appreciation for the program. His post reads: “The Pitt (Hulu): Forget those other doctor shows. This one is the best. Realistic and heart-wrenching. Come for life-or-death medical situations, stay for the human drama, which is real rather than corny.”

I mentioned previously that some have labeled the series a spiritual sequel to ER. However, there may be more to its than that. The show comes from members of the ER creative team and features ER alum Noah Wyle in the lead role. To say that ER series creator Michael Crichton’s widow Sherri isn’t thrilled about this would be an understatement. Ms. Crichton has filed a lawsuit against the production, alleging that she was in negotiations with Warner Bros. to reboot ER when they suddenly halted the conversation and instead announced a series called The Pitt from ER showrunner John Wells.
The defendants attempted to have the suit dismissed. However, last week, a judge ruled in Crichton’s favor, allowing the case to proceed.
The similarities certainly seem like they might be more than skin deep to me. I’m glad to hear that a judge has allowed the case to proceed. In spite of the controversy, I’m curious to check the show out for myself.
Where is The Pitt available to stream?
King’s post labels the series as available through Hulu. He is presumably watching the show on Hulu with a Max add-on, seeing as the program is a Max original. The platform releases new episodes of the medical drama every Thursday.
The show has been a hit with critics and viewers alike. Max has already renewed the series for a second season.
The setup for this Stephen King-approved series goes as follows:
A realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
That is absolutely everything that we have for you at present.
