Stephen King is a fascinating, influential creator with an impressive social media presence. He’s always eager to share his opinions on the state of the world and his thoughts on movies and television. He also has a habit of sharing groan-inducing dad jokes. But we don’t mind. It’s part of the author’s charm.

Back in the days when King was still active on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter (don’t ever call it X), he replied to a tweet from fellow fiction writer Linwood Barclay, who revealed that he’d walked out of Jurassic World Dominion.

King’s response reads, “I have walked out of only one movie as an adult: Transformers. Would like to know what other movies people have walked out on.”

I sat through all of Transformers in the theatre circa 2007. I would have happily walked out had I gone to the film alone. I wasn’t a fan. I like a grounded, character-driven film. Michael Bay’s filmmaking style is often anything but grounded. Flashy visuals rarely make up for the absence of worthwhile characters. On that basis, the Transformers films really aren’t my cup of tea.

Where is Transformers streaming?

If you are keen to see what motivated Stephen King to get up and leave in the middle of the film, you can find the picture streaming on Paramount+ as of the publication of this post. There’s a whole glut of Transformers-related programming available over there, for that matter.

Bay helmed the picture from a script by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

The picture’s cast includes Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Anthony Anderson, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Rachael Taylor, John Turturro, and Jon Voight.

The setup for the film that Stephen King had no time for goes like this:

The fate of humanity is at stake when two races of robots, the good Autobots and the villainous Decepticons, bring their war to Earth. The robots have the ability to change into different mechanical objects as they seek the key to ultimate power, but only human Sam Witwicky can save the world from total destruction.

That is absolutely everything that we have for you for the time being. Make sure to stay tuned to Dread Central in the near future for more hot takes from your favorite personalities in the genre space. If you’d like to keep up with me on social media, you can find me on Threads @FunWithHorror.
