‘Don’t Log Off’: Dread To Release Ariel Winter Screen-Life Thriller

Don’t Log Off

Epic Pictures has acquired the Ariel Winter-led screen-life thriller Don’t Log Off for distribution out of the European Film Market. The film, written and directed by brothers Brandon and Garrett Baer, is eyeing a summer release under Epic’s horror banner, Dread.

Don’t Log Off follows Annie (Winter), who scrambles to help rescue her best friend after she goes missing during a surprise birthday video call. Annie attempts to analyze the day her friend disappeared by examining calls, texts and social media, while also avoiding an ominous person from the friend’s past.

Winter stars in the film with Ashley Argota Torres, Brielle Barbusca, Sterling Beaumon, Luke Benward, Jack Griffo, Khylin Rhambo, and Kara Royster.

“We intend our film to exist as a time capsule—a testament to an insane technologically dependent period of all of our lives,” Brandon and Garrett Baer shared in a joint statement initially printed in The Hollywood Reporter. “And we felt the most honest way to tell that story was by mixing screen-life and traditional filmmaking elements in order to push the boundaries of this suspense thriller. We are so grateful Epic and Dread and all our collaborators saw our vision and wanted to partner with us to get this film seen.”

“The fear in this film isn’t just about what you see on the screen — it’s about what happens when the lines between virtual and reality start to blur,” Winter said in a separate statement. “We’re excited to partner with Epic and Dread, and for audiences to experience the thrills, the chills and the very real uncertainty we all felt during that time. Don’t Log Off is a terrifying reminder that sometimes, logging off might be the scariest thing you can do!”

Additionally, Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald praises the project as a “sharp, suspenseful and inventive thriller that keeps you hooked from start to finish.”
