Filmmaker Francis Xavier dropped us a line recently to give us the skinny on his latest genre project, Less Than a Whisper. Read on for the first details along with a few stills and the film’s artwork!
“This is a story that I’ve been waiting to make into a film for many years now, and broadly speaking, there are many surprises,” Xavier tells us. “My passion for film is expressed through the story, which I have done for many years now.”
“Having always been surrounded by art and cinema all my 52 years, I have developed my film and artistic skills, as well as my creative eye, watching great directors such as Alfred Hitchcock and David Lynch. I always felt people watched movies to be entertained, and the key note of Less Than a Whisper, the thing I should be concerned with, the thing I’m aiming for, the thing I’m working toward, is entertainment. What I’m creating is a function of providing an adult, meaningful, exciting, challenging ghost story without dealing with any controversy necessarily. A movie should make a comment on the things that affect our lives. It’s my thinking that an audience will sit still, listen, and watch a well-told story, and I truly believe Less Than A Whisper is that story.”
Xavier also wrote the film and stars alongside Sonia Monroy (in her first American movie).
Look for more on this one soon.
Synopsis
Robert and Taylor Usher expect to be happy in their new home in Northridge, California, where years ago murder and mutilations destroyed the former residents. It doesn’t matter to the Ushers until those who caused the deaths come back… those that live in the earth, those that need, those that are not human. The Ushers’ new house stands between them and what they must have. THEY’RE COMING.
