HARD:LINE Film Festival 2025 Spotlights German Genre Excellence [Exclusive]

The 12th annual HARD:LINE Film Festival is just around the corner and since the festival is held in Regensburg, Germany, it only makes sense that the programming team gives special attention to films made in the land of Murnau and Lang. It’s a country known for creating strange and wonderful genre films, and this festival wants the world to know it. That’s why, as a media partner for the festival, we’re excited to highlight and share the four Germain contributions to the 2025 HARD:LINE Film Festival.

This year’s festival will be held from April 10 to April 13. Tickets go on sale in just five days!

THE BEHEMOTH

Feature Film | World Premiere

A British couple spends their vacation in a rural vacation resort but finds anything but relaxation there. Instead, Ryan and Rebecca come across the last-ditch followers of a cult, the “Servants of Blood” who want to bring one of the great old gods back to life. They want nothing less than to bring about the end of the world. Sounds good—but there are a few details that the cowl-bearers haven’t reckoned with. And you certainly didn’t either!

COSMIC CRASH

Short Film | German Premiere

Sam, the old trumpet, is once again not there but hanging around in the garden of the research lab when an unknown flying object crash-lands in (!) the poor boy. The death was witnessed by a concerned colleague, whose body now serves as a vehicle for the angry blob, which embeds itself in the onlooker’s head and takes control. With his puppet under his alien butt, he can enter the laboratory unhindered. But what the hell is he actually doing there?

NAIMS ESEL

Short Film | World Premiere

Naim is a security guard in an apartment complex. Every night he sees a hidden object picture of people, rooms, and corridors. Each surveillance image provides insights into other people’s lives. The interpretation is up to him: Is what is happening a problem for security in the building? Somehow he had imagined things differently. Should it go on like this? Night after night alone in this room? When something unusual flickers on the monitor, he makes a decision—hoping to take the right path this time.

Germany 2025 | 16 minutes | Director: Ron Vodovozov | With: Zabi Tajik, Roman Kohnlem, Isabelle Pilkington

STRANDS OF MIND

VR-360-Degree Film

A forest. It stands still and rigid, and in the midst of its darkness, we enter an unreal world full of mystery and suspense that plunges us into the innermost depths of existence. Equipped with grandiose animations, this film is not a pure genre flick, but its design does not lack points of contact with the dark arts of film. Come along on a trip that you may never be able to experience so closely and directly in the movies.

Germany 2021, 12 minutes | Director: Adrian Meyer
