This Denzel Washington Thriller That Fans Loved and Critics Loathed Is Now Free to Stream

In a lot of cases, the reaction to a given film from the moviegoing public mirrors the critical response to said motion picture. That makes a certain amount of sense because even though there’s a level of objectivity at play with cinema, a bad movie is a bad movie. However, there are still those occasions where the masses connect with a flick for which critics have absolutely no time. The Denzel Washington thriller Man on Fire is an excellent example of that.
Rotten Tomatoes has amalgamated 167 reviews from film scholars and the picture holds a below-average critical approval rating of 38%. However, the flick’s user rating is a far more positive at 89%. That’s quite the divide. Yet, that audience score is not an anomaly. The picture’s IMDb user rating is also well above average at 7.7/10. Holy cow!

A lot of critics called the film out as overly long Though plenty of fans were quick to defend the film as emotionally textured and action-packed in spite of its 2.5-hour runtime.
Have you seen the feature in question? If so, where do you stand on this contentious debate? If you haven’t yet seen Man on Fire and are eager to experience the film, we’ve got the lowdown on how you can do just that.
Where is Man on Fire available to stream?
That’s right, dear reader. Man on Fire is available to stream for free (with ads) on Tubi as of the publication of this post.
The late, great Tony Scott directed Man on Fire from a screenplay by Brian Helgeland. Helgeland adapted the screen treatment from a 1980 novel by Philip Nicholson (who wrote the tome under the pen name AJ Quinnell).
The setup for this action-packed Denzel Washington thriller goes as follows:
In a Mexico City wracked by a recent wave of kidnappings, ex-CIA operative John Creasy (Washington) reluctantly accepts a job as a bodyguard for 9-year-old Lupita (Dakota Fanning), the daughter of wealthy businessman Samuel Ramos (Marc Anthony). Just as Creasy begins to develop a fondness for the young girl, a bloodthirsty gunman (Jesús Ochoa) kidnaps her. Now, Creasy must pick off a succession of corrupt cops and criminals to reach his ultimate object of vengeance.
