‘Clown In A Cornfield’ Trailer Invites You To Be Friends With Frendo… Or Else

clown in a cornfield

Get ready for your new favorite creepy clown, Frendo! Coming soon to a barn party and theater near you, he’s the cross-bow-wielding, teenager-killing villain at the center of Eli Craig’s new film, Clown in a Cornfield. What exactly is he capable of? Watch the new trailer to find out…

In the film:

Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.

Now, watch the official trailer:

In her review of the film from SXSW 2025, Dread Central’s Mary Beth McAndrews wrote,

“With this adaptation, Craig and his co-writer Carter Blanchard … [use] slasher tropes to reach a modern teenage audience without being afraid of treating them like adults. This is Scream for the digital era: a dark horror comedy unafraid of slaughtering its darlings in the name of skewering a collapsing society.”

Katie Douglas, Carson MacCormac, Aaron Abrams, Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand star in Clown in a Cornfield.

Craig and Blanchard adapted the film’s script from Adam Cesare‘s 2020 YA novel of the same name. The novel won the 2020 Bram Stoker Award for Best Young Novel. Since then, Cesare has completed the trilogy, with Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives released in 2022 and Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo in 2024.

Clown In A Cornfield comes to theaters on May 9, 2025.
