More casting news for Dimension’s brand new take on an enduring horror franchise, simply titled Amityville, has landed on our desks; and we figured we’d share it with you before anyone else does!
Thomas Mann (pictured; Project X) and Taylor Spreitler (“Melissa & Joey”) are the latest to be cast in the film, which began shooting in Los Angeles this week.
They join the previously announced Jennifer Jason Leigh, McKenna Grace, Bella Throne, and Cameron Monaghan. Leigh stars as lead character Joan, a single mother who moves her three kids into the Amityville house, which of course has a very dark history.
Maniac remake helmer Franck Khalfoun directs.
Dimension had planned on reigniting the popular horror franchise using a found-footage angle, but that idea has been dropped as the format appears to have fallen out of favor with discerning genre fans. Amityville is scheduled for release on January 2, 2015.
Daniel Farrands and Casey La Scala co-wrote the script and produce with Jason Blum of hit factory Blumhouse.
