‘Night of the Zoopocalypse’ Exclusive Clip: How Giallo Influenced This Animated Gateway Horror Film

Move over, Monster House, because there’s a new animated horror movie for kids in town. Based on a concept by horror master Clive Barker, directors and veteran animators Ricardo Curtis and Rodrigo Perez-Castro have brought Barker’s story to life in Night of the Zoopocalypse! While it’s rated PG, this is a film for all ages, perfect for kids and adults alike.
In the film, “After a meteor unleashes a virus that turns zoo animals into mutants, a mountain lion (David Harbour) and wolf (Gabbi Kosmidis) lead a team of surviving animals to stop the virus and rescue their zoo.“
In our exclusive featurette from Night of the Zoopocalypse, get a look at how the animating team drew inspiration from giallo films, especially when it came to lighting.
Watch now:
David Harbour (Stranger Things), Scott Thompson (The Kids In The Hall), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandalorian), and Gabbi Kosmidis (Unicorn Academy) voice characters in the new film.
In his review of Night of the Zoopocalypse, Dread Central’s Terry Mesnard wrote,
“Night of the Zoopocalypse might not bring anything new to the table for horror fans, but the way it fuses ’80s gateway horror ethos with modern animation elevates it to one of the most enjoyable kids films I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s paced to perfection, giving us enough character development and stakes before turning into a non-stop thrill ride.”
Night Of The Zoopocalypse is available now on VOD from Viva Kids.
