If you’ve been reading this site for very long, you’re aware of our love for good audio horror, and few do it better than Glass Eye Pix’s Tales from Beyond the Pale. Season 2 is now available in a “live” box set, and we have all the details here.

From the Press Release:
Glass Eye Pix, the fierce independent production house responsible for a vast slate of captivating genre movies including Late Phases, Beneath, Stake Land, The Last Winter, I Sell the Dead, The House of the Devil, and The Innkeepers, announces the release of the Tales from Beyond the Pale Season 2 Live! box set.

The set is now available via Amazon and the Tales online store.

Conceived during a fog-drenched car ride with nothing beyond the windshield but a horizon-less void, Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid created the acclaimed Tales from Beyond the Pale, audio theater inspired by the vintage radio shows of Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Welles. Having previously released ten studio-recorded Tales for Season 1, Fessenden and McQuaid decided to up the ante and stage a second season before a live audience at the performance venue Dixon Place in downtown New York City. Tales Season 2 delves even further beyond the pale with eight explosive tales to tickle your fancy and curdle your blood.

Glass Eye Pix is pleased to present this box set of four CDs, a DVD, and a twelve-page booklet with eight spooky audio dramas: “Ram King” by Joe Maggio, “Like Father, Like Son” by Clay McLeod Chapman, “Stranger” by Jeff Buhler, “Dead Man’s Shoes” by Ashley Thorpe, “Sarah Minds the Dog” by Kim Newman, “The Crush” by Glenn McQuaid, “Dead Air” by Simon Barrett, and “Caper” by Larry Fessenden.

The Tales are chillingly brought to life by the regular stable of performers and special guests Sean Young, Vincent D’Onofrio, Mark Margolis, James Le Gros, Michael Cerveris, Kate Lyn Sheil, Jonny Orsini, and others and are narrated by your host, horror maverick Larry Fessenden.

The beautiful box set, designed by celebrated graphic artist Gary Pullin, includes a very special bonus DVD with a half-hour documentary film entitled Behind the Curtain, chronicling the history of the project and the staging of the live shows. Also included on the DVD are various video clips generated for the series, collected for the first time in Dispatches from Season 1.

Following the box set release, Glass Eye Pix will present Tales from Beyond the Pale: The Stanley Edition at this weekend’s Stanley Film Festival, taking place April 24-27 at the haunted and historic Colorado hotel that inspired The Shining. Two BRAND NEW TALES, created specially for the event by Fessenden, McQuaid, and frequent collaborator Clay McLeod Chapman, will feature SFF attendees Martin Starr (Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead), Jocelyn DeBoer (Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead), AJ Bowen (The Sacrament), Ana Asensio, and additional special guests. Festival attendees staying in the hotel will be treated to Behind the Curtain and Dispatches from Season 1 right on their TV sets, and Glass Eye Pix will also release a special edition Stanley poster, illustrated by artist Trevor Denham.
