Diary 2 Not Happening Yet?
So we’ve all been over-geeking about Romero turning around and instantly returning to the Diary of the Dead (review) characters and situations, since during AFM it was all over that Diary of the Dead 2 was definitely happening.
As with all things that involve Romero, it seems, the truth is not quite so simplistic. While speaking to a group at the Film 4 Fright Fest in the UK, Romero admitted that nothing about Diary 2 is set in stone; “I’m not sure where that came from,” Romero said when questioned by IGN, “I wouldn’t mind continuing the discussion, but nothing is decided yet. Euphoria seems to have set in even though the film has only screened about six times.”
Romero went on to say that if it were to continue it’d have to feature the same characters, which is in line with the plot synopsis that The Hollywood Reporter had on Halloween (“Diary of the Dead Sequel Confirmed” – October 2007) but is confusing if you take into account that Romero doesn’t have an idea yet…
Like I said, the truth is not simplistic. Somewhere along the line I’m sure things are more progressed than he lets on but for one reason or another can’t say so yet, more than likely due to money issues. All we want is George to come back and keep making movies, zombie or otherwise, so we’ll take what we can get!
Wonder how much longer the dead can live in the Dread Central forums!
