The Demolisher is both a character study and a psychological examination of trauma, resulting in an unapologetic portrayal of what can happen when a fragile mind is pushed too far.
“The film is complex and character-driven, dealing with an outpouring of raw emotion,” said director Gabriel Carrer, also one of the film’s producers. “It delicately juggles our sympathetic nature and reactions to chance encounters with the dangerous and addicted intoxication of violence. The film’s narrative pertains to the film industry, or any industry for that matter, and the level of abuse that can be endured,” he concludes.
Award-winning cinematographer Martin Buzora captures the film’s fresh hyper-visual aesthetic. Along with Carrer, The Demolisher is produced by Barrett, AK Lamm, Duane Frey, Christian Burgess, Martin Buzora, Nathan Hawkins, and Andrew Wood.
Synopsis:
Directed by Gabriel Carrer (In the House of Flies), The Demolisher chronicles the story of a man named Bruce (Ry Barrett; The Drownsman), an ordinary repairman tormented by a crippling sense of responsibility for his disabled wife, Samantha (Tianna Nori; Clean Break), a former policewoman and survivor of a gang-related assault. Bruce’s increasing hyper-sensitivity to the injustice suffered by his wife steers him down a dark path of vigilantism. With his rapidly disintegrating mental health, paranoia, and overwhelming sense of condemnation, Bruce channels his inner rage, punishing a young woman, Marie (Jessica Vano; The Unabomber Manifesto), and finding refuge in a world of intense violence.
