Silent Night, Deadly Night 30th Anniversary Blu-ray Heads Down the ChimneyOne of the all-time best years for the horror genre was 1984, which saw the release of A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Gremlins and Ghostbusters.

On the very same day that Elm Street came out, so too did the holiday horror classic Silent Night, Deadly Night, which has just been dated for a Blu-ray release! As we spotted over on Blu-ray.com, Silent Night, Deadly Night will get the 30th Anniversary Blu-ray treatment on September 16th.

This will mark the very first time the film has been released on Blu-ray after a fairly troubled home video history, which has seen every DVD release of the film going out of print.

In the controversial Christmas horror flick, young Billy goes on a murderous rampage dressed as Santa after his parents are murdered and he’s forced to stay at an orphanage where he’s abused by the evil Mother Superior.

No word yet on the bonus features that will be included on the disc, nor has box art been revealed. Of course, we’ll keep you posted as we learn more about this long-awaited Blu-ray release.

In the meantime, drop us a comment below and tell us your favorite scene from the film. Personally, I can’t wait to see Linnea Quigley hung up on those deer antlers in high-def!
