Vlad The Impaler Claws Its Way Onto SteamThe average emotard teenager glitters and sparkles with his fondness for vampirism seeming like a long ago memory. Nowadays he can’t decide if he’s looking for a victim or the girl he is going to write his next poem about. Not in my movie, not in my world, and especially not in my video game.

The vampire and Gothic horror genres will spend years struggling to undo the damage inflicted by Twilight. Thankfully, Section Studios is taking one back for the good guys by returning to history’s greatest vampire in the new game Vlad the Impaler, which is available now on Steam.

Vlad the Impaler is touted as a choose your own adventure RPG. Each choice the player makes while venturing through the game’s 50 quests will either have positive or negative repercussions, such as the loss or attainment of skill points or weapons, all to determine if you will become the savoir of Istanbul or cause its ultimate destruction.

Players have three classes to choose from: explorer, mage, and sorcerer, each branching into their own subclasses, which become available based on the decisions the players make. It all leads up to an epic battle with the torturous tyrant that inspired generations of bloodsuckers.

Section Studios has greatly stressed the game’s art as “reminiscent of a graphic novel” and looks to the time honored page turners as one of its main selling points, as studio CEO Jimmy Yun expresses, “At Section we’ve always put a priority on creating beautifully drawn art to tell a story.”

Interested? Vlad the Impaler is available on Steam for $9.99. If you order by July 23rd, you can save 13%!
