Found Footage Flick The Poughkeepsie Tapes Found on DIRECTV

2008. That’s when we first reviewed the Dowdle Brothers’ found footage film The Poughkeepsie Tapes (review). Years have passed, and no one has since seen hide nor hair of the movie… until now, that is.
John Erick Dowdle directs the film from a story he wrote with his brother, Drew Dowdle. Stacy Chbosky, Ben Messmer, Samantha Robson, and Ivar Brogger star in the faux documentary, which is available NOW on DIRECTV VOD.
Who knows why this one has sat in limbo so long while a throng of other far worse films have been allowed to saturate the market? If you are a DIRECTV subscriber, check it out and let us know what you thought.
Synopsis
When hundreds of videotapes showing torture, murder, and dismemberment are found in an abandoned house, they reveal a serial killer’s decade-long reign of terror and become the most disturbing collection of evidence homicide detectives have ever seen.
