We’re reporting live on the floor from AMC’s “The Walking Dead” panel, and we’ve got some goodies to pass along, from the direction of the upcoming season to the impending Blu-ray release of Season 4.
Chris Hardwick introduced showrunner Scott Gimple along with Robert Kirkman, Gale Ann Hurd, Greg Nicotero, Andrew Lincoln, Steven Yuen, Michael Cudlitz, Danai Gurira, Lauren Cohan, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Chad Coleman, and Emily Kinney to a roomful of rabid fans.
When asked if our heroes would ever leave the train car, the panel showed a mock sitcom-style clip of Rick, Glenn, and Maggie sitting inside the train car in old age makeup, playing card games and eating the leftovers of Carl. The scene ended with Rick saying, “I can’t keep eating my kid,” followed by a bald-headed Daryl pulling a Colonel Kurtz and screaming, “The horror! The horror!”
Robert Kirkman confirmed that this season will offer “many moments from the comic that fans have been waiting for.”
The Season 4 Blu-ray will feature the unaltered line of Rick dropping the f-bomb during his final season-ending line.
The Season 5 promo shows Rick and his gang being held over a trough and pleading for their lives. The group is forced to join the Terminus people on a quest to reach Washington, DC. There’s much distrust and fighting between Rick and the leader of Terminus. The footage showed lots of clips of Rick kicking ass, a fight with zombies in a flooded basement, a massive explosion with hundreds of zombies flying. Very action-oriented. The footage ends with clips from a subplot involving a still-alive Beth, who is being held captive by an insane policewoman.
And as always, we learned the premiere date: Season 5 kicks off Sunday, October 12th, at 9PM, on AMC, followed once again by “Talking Dead.”
