Argento Goes Giallo
Though I’ve still not heard a lot of good about Dario Argento’s latest film, the much anticipated finale to his Mothers trilogy, The Mother of Tears, and I really hated the last few movies he’s done outside of Masters of Horror, I’m always willing to give that crazy Italian another chance.
So this morning when Variety made mention of his next film, a straight-up slasher being called simply Giallo, of course we had to give it a mention. The cast for Giallo is set to include Vincent Gallo (pictured), Asia Argento and, oddly enough, Ray Liotta according to the trade. Liotta is in talks to play a cop who’s investigating a series of serial slashings being done by a psychotic madman, played by Gallo.
Jim Agnew & Sean Keller penned the script from which Argento will direct, with shooting set to kick in next month in Turin, where Mother of Tears was filmed. Here’s hoping it’s a return to form for the master and not another reason to feature dwarves and/or monkeys as killers.
