Blu Underground
As I’m sure most people around here know, the format war to be the HD disc of choice was officially won by Blu-Ray last month, with main HD-DVD backer Toshiba dropping out and all the major studios supporting Blu-Ray.
That’s all well and good, but we don’t overly rely on major studios to bring us our films. Anchor Bay is already releasing Blu-Rays (though they have been suspiciously quiet on the feature film front of late), but Blue Underground had been steering clear of HD releases.
Until now. A brief statement on their official site announces that Blue Underground will start releasing titles on Blu-Ray this year. There is currently no word on which titles we can expect for release, but given how many great foreign and cult horror movies Blue Underground has brought to DVD, I’m sure the first batch will be worth getting excited about.
Let’s hope this means we get beautiful HD versions of movies like Inferno, Susperia, Stagefright and Zombie sooner rather than later. Make it happen, guys!
