Enter the American Horror Story: Freak Show Costume Contest
Fashion Week may be over, but now it’s time for the “Freak Show” to begin. If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at costume designing, then this new contest that just kicked off in honor of “American Horror Story: Freak Show’s” upcoming premiere should be right up your alley.

Contest Details
WHAT: To celebrate the launch of “American Horror Story’s” much anticipated fourth installment, “Freak Show,” premiering on October 8th, FX has launched a costume design competition. The contest invites participants with an eye for the unusual to design an original costume inspired by the series. Contestants will submit their “American Horror Story” sketches along with a description of their design inspirations, which will be judged by the show’s head costume designer, Lou Eyrich; fashion designer Christian Siriano; and President of Marketing and On-Air Promotions for FX, Stephanie Gibbons.
The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a $5,000 cash prize, and the garment will be created and worn by a model in a one-of-a-kind photo shoot. The winner will also meet and greet with costume designer Lou Eyrich. The selected winning garment will be displayed on the “American Horror Story” website and shared on social media platforms.
Additionally, a runner-up will receive a $1,500 cash prize and social media acknowledgement.

WHEN: The contest began on September 15, 2014, and concludes upon “Freak Show’s” premiere on October 8, 2014, with a winner unveiling shortly thereafter.

- Lou Eyrich, FX Costume Designer: Lou Eyrich is the four-time Emmy®-nominated Costume Designer behind the hit television series “Glee” and “American Horror Story.” With nearly 20 years’ experience, she has also worked on FX’s “Nip/Tuck” with Julian McMahon and Joely Richardson and numerous films including Ryan Murphy’s Running with Scissors.
- Christian Siriano, Fashion Designer: Following his studies in London under Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen, Christian Siriano launched his eponymous collection in 2008. The Christian Siriano collection is now shown each season at New York Fashion Week and presented in New York and Paris to retailers. Known for whimsical and show-stopping design – from fantasy evening gowns and cocktail dresses, to tailored sportswear, to intricately detailed shoes and accessories – the collection can be found at department stores and specialty boutiques around the globe.
- Stephanie Gibbons, FX Networks Executive: Stephanie Gibbons is President of Marketing and On-Air Promotions for FX Networks. She is responsible for the strategy, creative, media planning, and implementation of all advertising, digital, and on-air campaigns for FX, FXM, and the new network FXX. She also oversees all digital, mobile, cross-platform, and emerging media marketing initiatives for the FX Networks.
“American Horror Story: Freak Show” debuts October 8th at 10:00 PM on FX. It begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952.
A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.

One of the only surviving sideshows in the country struggles to stay in business during the dawning era of television. When police make a terrifying discovery at a local farmhouse, the eccentric purveyor of the freak show (Lange) sees an opportunity that will lead her troupe either to their salvation or ruin.
