Xenomorphs Will Not Appear in Prometheus 2, Says Ridley Scott
Ever since it was revealed that a sequel to Prometheus is in the works, we’ve all been wondering what direction will be taken with the spin-off series. Will it be more in line with the Alien franchise or continue blazing its own original path? Today Ridley Scott offers up some details, and we’re pretty sure many of you will be disappointed by the news.
In an interview with Yahoo!, Scott revealed that a new direction will likely be taken with Prometheus 2, as he feels that the Xenomorph cash cow has already been more than milked for all it’s worth.
“The beast is done. Cooked,” says Scott. “I got lucky meeting [H.R.] Giger all those years ago. It’s very hard to repeat that. I just happen to be the one who forced it through because they said it’s obscene. They didn’t want to do it, and I said, ‘I want to do it; it’s fantastic’. But after four, I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do. I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.”
As for what we can expect to see in Prometheus 2, a new draft of which is currently being written, Scott noted that some familiar faces will be returning.
“You’ll probably have to go with [Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw] and [Michael Fassbender’s android David] – without his head,” he offered up. “Find out how he gets his head back on!”
