Sndyer Goes to Cobalt

Zack Snyder to helm Cobalt 60With the upcoming adaptation of 300 blowing the minds of all those who see it, I think it’s safe to say that director Zack Snyder is here to stay. After remaking Dawn of the Dead and impressing more people than it pissed off (no small feat, that), there was some concern he might be done with our genre.

Such is not the case as The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that Snyder is now attached to follow up 300 with Cobalt 60, another comic book though one admittedly more cult-y than Frank Miller’s classic. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by mutants and other fantastic creatures, in which the titular hero sets out on a quest to avenge the death of his parents at the hands of the evil Strontium 90.

The comic was originally created by Vaughn Bode but scrapped after one story. Years later his son, Mark, would continue the story and lead the book to cult history, as it were.

Snyder will direct, but a writer is being sought for it as we speak. Stick around for more!
