Pizzaman is Serious Horror

Mel Brooks working on serious horrorMan, what a strange bit of news this is for a Monday morning; Mel Brooks is working on a serious horror movie.
I’ll just let that sink in for a minute.

A story in today’s THR has Brooks shooting down rumors that his 30-year-old production shingle Brooksfilms may be shutting down for good, a rumor that was started by a New York gossip page. Nice work. Instead, he’s working on a serious horror film called Pizzaman (?) with writing collaborators Rudy DeLuca and Steve Haberman.

He wouldn’t give details as to what the film was about, only that it’s still in the rewrite stage and hasn’t been shopped out to studios. It’s going to be pretty hard to take a film called Pizzaman seriously, so I really hope they come up with a new title first and foremost. Keep it here for updates as we get ’em!
