Filming Begins on Darren Bousman’s Abattoir
We’ve been patiently sitting back and waiting for more information about Darren Bousman’s (Saw II, III, IV; Repo! The Genetic Opera, Mother’s Day) Abattoir, which piqued our interest right off the bat with its incredibly original concept. Finally we’ve got some news to report as the cameras have begun rolling.
Over on Instagram Bousman revealed that filming has officially begun for his latest film, which is based on the same-named comic series he unleashed several years back.
“5 years ago, Abattoir the graphic novel hit the stands,” he wrote. “Every day that followed after was a fight to see this story and concept as a feature film. Today after countless set backs, a death, numerous shut downs, false starts and about every other road block we roll cameras! I am surrounded by an amazing crew, cast and support team. I would write more, but someone has to yell… ACTION!!”
Last we heard, Chad Michael Murray was attached to star in the film, centering on a Boston real estate reporter who unearths an urban legend about someone who has spent decades buying homes where horrific tragedies have occurred and piecing them together, ultimately leading to the enigmatic Jebediah Crone and the answer to the terrifying question: How do you build a haunted house?
Bousman is working from a screenplay by Christopher Monfette, who adapted the Radical Publishing comic book miniseries.
