Participant Unleashes The Colony

Participant Media readies The Colony It annoys the shit out of me when a film is announced in the trades but nothing’s said about what it actually will be about. Take the story on The Colony in this morning’s Variety; a long list of genre names is attached to it, but all we know is that it’s an eco-horror tale. How am I supposed to make a snap judgment about the quality of the film with so little information?

The Colony is being set up by Participant Media with Vertigo Entertainment and Room 101 producing, specifically Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity redux) for Room 101 and Roy Lee (The Eye, Shutter) for Vertigo.

Right now I don’t even think a script’s been written, but the film will be coming from a pitch from Stacy Title (Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horror director) and Jonathan Penner (one of the Hood writers). We’ll try and dig up more info on The Colony and give you guys the word when we find it!
