Union Station Nabs Birch’s Corners
One of the weirdest things about AFM each year is the abundance of films that suddenly sign deals that you’ve not heard of in years. Case in point: the Shoreline Entertainment film Dark Corners starring Thora Birch (yum), a movie that’s been pretty quiet for a while now.
This is one we gave a bit of attention to back in the day for two obvious reasons (think about it…), but also because it sounded like a pretty cool idea. In Corners Birch plays a girl who wakes up one day as a different person, stalked by strange creatures and unable to differentiate between reality and nightmare.
Variety reports from AFM that Union Station Media has acquired the US and Canadian rights to distro the pic, which was directed by first-timer Ray Gower. Union Station, a joint venture of Alliance Atlantis and Arclight Films, was behind the recent DVD release of the Robert Englund-starrer Heart Stopper (review) as part of their plan to release 12-18 DVD indie titles per year. So, if nothing else, we can expect a good online push for Dark Corners when its release date comes!
Tell me if you got the “two reasons” comment or not in our forums!
