Fox Greenlights Independence Day Sequel

Finally the official word has come that 20th Century Fox is ready to begin work on the long talked about sequel to Independence Day as Deadline reports that the film has been slotted for a May production start and the studio will now move to close Roland Emmerich’s directing deal.

It’s already been reported that Fox staked a June 24, 2016, release date and that original film star Will Smith will NOT be returning. Casting will begin after they lock Emmerich. Though two sequels have been discussed, Fox has only greenlit one.
