Mrs. Voorhees Confirmed for New Friday the 13th Movie
One of the bummers about 2009’s Friday the 13th remake was that Mrs. Voorhees was barely in it, seen only in a brief sequence that recreated the final moments of the original film. It sounds like Platinum Dunes is looking to make up for that, as Brad Fuller has revealed some more exciting details about Jason’s return. Read on!
Just a few days after we learned that the next Friday the 13th will be an entirely new film, rather than a remake or sequel, Fuller once again spoke with Brazilian website Omelete, his comments this time around indicating that Mrs. Voorhees will play an integral role in the proceedings.
“Sex, drugs, beautiful people dying – these things do not change. And we can develop a more problematic relationship with the mother,” Fuller said, suggesting that the proposed 1980s setting will allow for them to delve further into that relationship than perhaps ever before. Yes, please.

Though surely no surprise to anyone, Fuller also confirmed that Friday the 13th will continue to be an R-rated franchise, as he explained that “there is no PG-13 in the world of Jason Voorhees.” Well, thank God for that!
As far as we know, David Bruckner (The Signal, V/H/S) will be in the director’s chair, but Fuller didn’t comment on that. He also made no mention of the planned November 13, 2015, release date, though it’s likely that the film won’t be ready by then.
