Remember The Number 23? How Jim Carey started to see the titular number everywhere he looked, which all led to a very weak ending? Well, this one’s a York release, meaning you’ll be lucky if only the ending is weak, and follows a man who goes to investigate a friend’s claim that a ghost drops by his apartment every night at 3AM. Drive-In Cult Classics Volume 2

Not a bad assortment of flicks for a night of cheap beers and cheap entertainment. Well, a few nights, actually, since there are 8 films in this set. That’s, like, 16 hours of cheesy goodness! Included in this set are The Hearse, Bloodlust!, The Creeping Terror, They Saved Hitler’s Brain, Land of the Minotaur, The Devil’s Hand, The Madmen of Mandoras and Terrified. Buy it here!
The Killing Gene (2007)
Directed by Tom Shankland
Originally released as w?z, which apparently Dimension figured most people wouldn’t understand, this very smart horror film from Tom Shankland is now out under the far lamer title The Killing Gene But a book should not be judged by it’s cover, nor a film by its title, because this sucker is actually quite a good time. The equation that was the film’s moniker is one used to disprove altruism, something that a very sick individual is attempting to do on the streets of New York. It’s up to a pair of cops to find out why and stop the brutal massacres before it’s too late. Check out our “>Killing Gene DVD review for more! Buy it here!
Survival (2008)
Directed by Joe Francis
A group of kids gather together for their annual camping excursion into the forests of North Carolina. Still with me? Why? It’s a York release! This year, for whatever reason, they fun afoul of a twisted pair of siblings who get off on capturing and torturing their victims. After they’ve broken them mentally and physically, they release them back into the woods to kill or be killed. Sounds like most of my weekends, don’t know why someone would make a movie about it… Buy it here!
Wide Awake (2008)
Directed by Lee Gyu-man
Because someone didn’t the a kid’s anesthetic dosage correct, he remains conscious throughout his own heart surgery. Needless to say he’s traumatized by the events, so much so that he sets out to kill a young girl shortly after he’s released. Not the best form of therapy I could think of, but then I’ve never had to feel doctors cutting into my chest before, so who knows. Hopefully it’s better than the somewhat similarly-themed Awake was … Find out by giving our “>Wide Awake DVD review a read! Buy it here!
