Ketchum’s Right to Life Next Adaptation!
Add another Jack Ketchum story headed for the big screen, and aside from The Girl Next Door this might be the most disturbing one yet…
“>Rule of Three (review) producers Eric Shapiro and Rhoda Jordan just dropped us a line with the news that they’ve acquired the rights to Ketchum’s short story “Right to Life”, which you can find anywhere paperbacks are sold as part of Leisure’s release of Ketchum’s “>Old Flames (review).
As my review indicates, “Right to Life” is the story of a woman who is taken hostage by a very demented couple while on her way to get an abortion. Their plan is to keep her tied up and humiliated in their basement until she’s ready to give birth. Needless to say, this is going to be a hard movie to make; “Ketchum is one of the great madmen of the horror genre,” says Shapiro, who is slated to direct as well. “Lots of artists fake or hint at danger, but his stories are truly dangerous. They go in deep.”
The goal is to get Right to Life in front of cameras before the end of next year; we’ll keep you guys informed as to its progress so don’t move!
