If 2006’s The Host taught me anything, it’s that Korean monster movies are absolutely awesome, and we’re happy to report today that a new one is on its way up from the proverbial depths. So read on for all the details!

Per Twitch Film, Jung Woo-sung (pictured below) will hunt the beast in Jakseoui Byeon (Attack of the Water Monster), a Joseon Era creature feature helmed by Chaw director Shin Jung-won.

Based on a story from 1527 during the reign of King Jungjong, Jung will play Yoon Gyeom, the King’s loyal subject who goes after a monster endangering the monarch as well as a faction intent on removing him from the throne.

The film will be produced by Taewon Entertainment and is set to start filming at the end of February.
