The CW is overloading us with clips and images from its horror shows this week, and on tap now we have a sneak peek of tomorrow night’s “The Vampire Diaries” Episode 6.12, “Prayer for the Dying,” along with a four-pack of stills from the series’ February 12th Episode 6.14, “Stay,” which is the last (for now anyway) for co-star Steven R. McQueen. Unfortunately for his fans, McQueen’s character, Jeremy, is nowhere to be seen.

“The Vampire Diaries” Episode 6.12 – “Prayer for the Dying” (1/29/15)
THE MERGE When Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) and Luke’s (guest star Chris Brochu) father arrives to town to celebrate their birthday, they try to convince him to let Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) and Kai (guest star Chris Wood) take their place in the merge ceremony. After Tyler (Michael Trevino) finds out that the merge is happening sooner than he expected, he urges Liv to let him talk to her father.

Meanwhile, after Caroline’s (Candice Accola) plan to cure her mother takes an unexpected and devastating turn, Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley), and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) gather at the hospital, while Jo attempts to save Sheriff Forbes’ (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) life.

Lastly, with the merge set to take place, Damon’s risky plan quickly sends things spiraling out of control, forcing one of the twins to take matters into their own hands. Jeffrey Hunt directed the episode written by Brett Matthews and Rebecca Sonnenshine.

“The Vampire Diaries” Episode 6.14 – “Stay” (2/12/15)
GOODBYE, MYSTIC FALLS It’s Jeremy’s (Steven R. McQueen) last day in Mystic Falls, and Elena (Nina Dobrev) puts on a brave face as they reminisce about their past.

Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accola) find themselves growing closer as they prepare Caroline’s family cabin for her mother to live out her final days.  While packing up her office, Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacInytre) turns to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) for help solving one of her remaining open cases involving Elena’s parents.

Elsewhere, when a violent confrontation with Enzo (Michael Malarkey) leaves Jeremy wondering whether he should leave or not, Matt (Zach Roerig) finds his own life on the line after Enzo lures him and Sarah Salvatore (guest star Tristin Mays) into his dangerous plan.

Lastly, Caroline rushes to the hospital after learning her mother has taken a turn for the worse.  Chris Grismer directed the episode written by Brian Young and Caroline Dries.

This week we chat with filmmaker, producer, composer, writer, author...this guy's done it all...John Harrison. From working with George Romero on everything from Creepshow and Dawn of the Dead to Tales from the Darkside to the Dune miniseries to his Netflix series Residue...he's done it all. He even directed Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, which was Andrew LaSane's Scarred for Life pick, which is one of Terry's favorite movies. We chat about his long history in cinema; about how he started working with Romero to some insights into Tales from the Darkside. And we discuss his latest work, the novel Residue: Paramentals Rising, which is a sequel to the Netflix show. After learning about his horror history--including a memorable viewing of Night of the Living Dead--we find out why The Haunting terrified him as a twelve year old. John references an article written by Anthony McKay in Little Shoppe of Horrors, which can be ordered here. Scarred For Life
Episode 266: Opus Writer/Director Mark Anthony Green and Michael Jackson's Thriller (1983)
This week we were unbelievably excited to chat with writer and director Mark Anthony Green! We talk about his feature film debut Opus, working with musical icons The-Dream and Nile Rodgers, Ayo Edebiri's star power and the eccentricities (and graciousness) of John Malkovich. Mark Anthony shares a fantastic story of John on set and so much more before we dig a bit into his horror history and find out why Michael Jackson's Thriller music video scared him as a kid. A shorter episode this week, but easily one of our favorite conversations in a long while. Don't miss it. And go see Opus in theaters!Follow Mary Beth, Terry and the Podcast on Bluesky.
