UK Smash Hit Ghost Stories to Close After 1,000th Performance
Since it first appeared in Liverpool during February 2010, Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman’s theatrical show Ghost Stories has scared the pants off of over 400,000 theatregoers worldwide. Sadly, if you’re yet to experience the thrills of the show, you’ll need to hurry up and do so as it will be closing its doors for good on Sunday, March 15, after its final run at the Arts Theatre, London.
Written and directed by Dyson and Nyman, alongside the Lyric Theatre’s Artistic Director Sean Holmes, Ghost Stories was the Lyric Hammersmith’s greatest success to date – breaking all box office records and moving into an extended run in order to meet public demand.
From there, it transferred to the Duke of York’s theatre in 2011 and then toured to the likes of Toronto and Moscow, putting the frighteners on wherever it went. In 2014 Ghost Stories opened in London’s West End at the Arts Theatre, breaking all of its historical box office records and playing to a record number of people in one night on Halloween.
Co-creator Andy Nyman – whose own acting credits include Channel 4’s BAFTA-nominated zombie opus Dead Set and Christopher Smith’s Severance, said: “When Jeremy and I first conceived Ghost Stories, we never expected that the show would go on to be a cult hit, playing all over the world, with people returning time and again to be scared out of their minds. We’re hugely proud of its success.”
Ghost Stories is a stage show like no other – 80 minutes of rollercoaster thrills, chills, laughs and the scariest fun you’ll ever have in a theatre.
