Island of the Blind Dead Celebrates the Templar Knights!
One of my own personal favorite film series is Amando de Ossorio’s The Blind Dead franchise. If you’ve ever seen them, then you know why. If you haven’t, leave this website immediately, find them, and watch them until you too are blind.
Emma Dark, co-director and star of Seize the Night, is a fan too; and she recently released a project online entitled Island of the Blind Dead.
“This homage was made whilst holidaying in St. George South, Corfu,” says Dark. “It came as a last minute brain wave after several days trapped inside during storms and was never intended to have high production values, as such it does look rather the part though! A huge thanks to the local amateur dramatics society who enthusiastically welcomed the idea and did a fantastic job of bringing their characters to life on screen.”
Island of the Blind Dead imagines there may have been a fifth film in the series, which then became lost, the trailer subsequently recovered and restored some years later.
The short is written, directed, and produced jointly by Emma Dark and Merlyn Roberts (who also star in the film as the bikini-clad Jeannie and the resurrected Templar, respectively).
